Hello! This is Miss Mini and if you are reading this, you probably saw me perform or heard some of my music and enjoyed it. That’s great and I sincerely thank you for that. Artists like myself, want to keep giving you the kind of music you love.
However, artists like me will not be heard by a very large audience without being signed to a large record label. So now you’re probably thinking “Well you just have to be good enough to get signed.” Simple right?
WRONG. The problem with that is big record labels don’t want artists like me! They do not and will not sign artists that make regional music. Let’s use me as an example. I make Southern Soul and Beach music. People in Southern Part of the United States, like and listen to this music.
It’s southern music! They don’t listen to it in New York or LA so it doesn’t have a huge audience like pop music does. Record labels want the next Britney Spears or Justin Beiber, not Miss Mini. Sad but true.
This means that there are countless, extremely talented individuals and groups who are not being heard because they don’t have access to mass marketing and distribution. That’s… just… plain… WRONG!
So how can we fix this? How do we guarantee that these artists have the support necessary to keep making the music we love? By supporting these artists ourselves. That doesn’t mean just going to their shows or buying their CD, although those things are important.
It means actually becoming a patron of that artist. You basically hire the artist to make music. And you can hire me right now by joining my fan club. Now the great thing about this is that it doesn’t stop with me. For every 10 patrons, I get, I will become a patron and mentor of another deserving artist and help them as well.
As they grow, the artists that I mentor will in turn become patrons of other artists and help them. And those artists become patrons of other artists and those artists become patrons of other artists and the snowball gets larger as we pay it forward.
This is a grassroots movement to liberate local artists from the need to have the support of a major label to be successful. We are literally making dreams come true here. After all, it is the dream of every artist to be able to make a living doing what they were put on this earth to do – make art! And who benefits from allowing us to do that? You do of course.
This isn’t a new idea. It was done this way for many centuries before there were record labels. Once upon a time musicians, painters and other artists were prized members of the community. Patrons provided these artists with a living so that they were free to spend their days creating. Take the Renaissance period in Europe for example. I mean think about it, could Beethoven have written all of those beautiful symphonies if he had to work 50 hrs a week at McDonalds to pay his bills? I don’t think so!
We have the power to create our own Renaissance and it is badly needed. We live in a time when funding for the arts is being cut in schools and kids are discouraged from becoming full time artists because they won’t make a good living. I was told that myself.
We HAVE to make being an artist a desirable profession again! I mean, some of the best artists around have to have a second job to make ends meet. Who knows what wonderful things they could create if they were free to use their gifts full time? After all, creating art is a job. And creating music is definitely a J.O.B.!!!
Think about everything it takes to do my job. Think about the time it takes to write the music, and the lyrics. Think about recording time and production, which many of us do in our own studios with equipment that we paid for. Then we have the mastering of the music, pressing the CDs, marketing, performing, traveling to gigs, etc…
The list goes on and on. The artist bears the expense of all of these activities and is often times, not reimbursed. Now, imagine that all the lesser known artists decided it was not worth it and quit.
We would be stuck only being able to listen to mainstream popular music. That’s all. I mean, I like Bruno Mars, Adele and a few others but I can’t imagine a world where that kind of music is the only choice we have. If you can’t imagine a world like that either, please become a part of this movement. And you can start by joining my fan club.
Now, membership has its benefits… You didn’t think it was all about me did you? No! Here’s what you get with your membership.
· A free album download…Shame on you if you don’t have my album yet but I won’t hold that against you.
· An advance gig schedule. You will know before anyone else where I am performing next.
· The chance to win FREE TICKETS to my performances…Now I like this perk because if you know anything about the kind of music I do, most of the time, there is more than one act on a show. For example, last Labor Day I was on the same show as Roy C., Maurice Wynn and Hardaway Connection!
Can you imagine seeing them and me but you didn’t have to pay because you are a member?
· A DISCOUNT for my services. So, if you have an event or a function and you would like for me to perform there, you get a discounted rate.
· You get first listen of my new songs. Usually about one a month and you give me your feedback. If you don’t like it, the public won’t get it!
· My newsletter. To let you know everything good, bad and ugly that is happening on my journey.
The Newsletter is nice because there are lots of things that I don’t post on Facebook or anywhere else because I’m not a big fan of social media.
Let me tell you why… I can post a show on Facebook, Hey guys, I’m doing a show on such and such date at such and such place at such and such time. I’d love to see you there. I do the show and 3-4 days later, someone says, I didn’t know you were doing a show there. I would have come to see you…And all I can say is, I posted it on FACEBOOK!!!
My post got buried by cat videos and recipes. NO MORE OF THAT! With the newsletter, I can be sure that you always know what’s going on with me!
There will also be live chats, video, a member forum and pretty much full access to all things Miss Mini!
Now, to be my patron requires a contribution of $19.97 per month. Yeah, 20 bucks that’s it! To break it down even further that’s about $5 a week. Now think about it, if a friend came to you and said “Hey, I need $5, can you help me out?
Most of you wouldn’t hesitate to give him the $5 because you like this person and it’s such a small amount of money that you won’t miss it! Well, I am that friend today. This small contribution helps to ensure that I can continue to do what I do best and that I can help other artists to do that as well.
OK, I don’t want to talk your ear off but I DO want to ask you once again to join my fan club…Be a part of my journey and make sure that our kind of music survives. Please help me and other artists show the world that the arts are still important and that good music matters. It would mean everything to me and provide some pretty cool stuff for you too so Click “Subscribe” right now. I and music lovers everywhere sincerely THANK YOU!!!
