After S.O.S

Well hello again, I’m writing this with a cold so I don’t know if I will be very thorough because all I really want to do is lie down. BUT I’m feeling guilty because I have not updated in a while so here we go.

The song with J. Red is finished and it is friggin FANTASTIC! I have already sent it to a few DJs and it will be getting airplay soon. I still need to put it on my reverbnation and/or CD baby pages so you can download it. It’s called “If You Need Some” and it is really great. The experience was great and I look forward to doing more things with him in the future.

I performed at the Halifax County Seafood and Shag festival on April 16th and it was GREAT! Everyone seemed to have a good time. I mean, who wouldn’t with unlimited seafood and beer? Me and the band had a blast and met some really great people. I was invited back to do it again in October so I must have done something right! Here a few pics from the festival.

I was in NMB for the Society of Stranders (SOS) Spring Fling for two days. I went down on Tuesday April 19th and came back on the 21st. I had a BALL. I got to see Marsha Morgan again, which was really nice. What a sweet lady! She let me sing a song during her performance at Castanos. I also got to meet the guys with Jim Quick and Coastline at Fat Harolds, who I will be opening for in July by the way. They let me get on stage and do a song with them. And I met the guys from the Entertainers. They also allowed me to do some of my songs during their break. So, I really made the rounds!

My DJ friend Gary King was my tour guide and he really showed me a great time! I couldn’t have met all these great folks without him. I think this trip was very beneficial for my career and it was also soooo much fun!

Anyway, that’s about all I can stand to type today. I’m going to get some rest and nurse this cold. I have a gig Saturday so I must get well!!! Thanks and keep listening!

The Latest

Hello! I have not even begun to market the website yet but I can see that people are already visiting. So, I feel obligated to let you know some of what’s been happening. I skipped the blog post last week thinking no one would come here yet but…I WAS WRONG. So, here we go.

I went and the the song with J. Red. It turned out REALLY good and I can’t wait for you to hear it. He said he should have it done in a couple more days. It’s called “If You Need Some.” I had a really good time in Georgia. I was a bit shocked by the number of homosexual men that I saw. I’m not the least bit homophobic but the sheer concentration of gay men in one area surprised me. Another thing too, J. Red lives in a gated apartment community. My first day going there, I ran into the gate. So, it just seems that I am not built for the city. My Sharpsburg was showing big time. Like my girlfriend said when I told her all of this… “Witcho country ass!”  I couldn’t even argue with her.

BUT I made it back safely and everything keeps moving. Shhhh I’m going to be opening for Jim Quick and Coastline in July at Edwards Beach on Gaston Lake, NC. It has not been advertised yet so keep it under your hat. Like the TWO people who will read this will spoil the surprise!!! smiley-face-flower-clipart-free-clipart-images Anyway, the next gig is the Halifax County Seafood and Shag Festival in Roanoke Rapids, NC on April 16th. I LOVE seafood and there will be all I can eat there. I just have to make sure I take a benedryl because I have a shellfish allergy. Now that is the definition of IRONY!!!

Society of Stranders (SOS) Spring Safari starts on April 15th. So, I’m sure I will be going down to North Myrtle Beach for at least one day before it’s over on the 24th.  My DJ friend Gary King said that I can perhaps sing a few song at Decker’s if he DJs there this year. YAY!!! If I can’t have a gig there, this is the next best thing. I’m sure I’ll meet lots of people there that can put me to work! That’s exciting too. Anyway, that’s about all for now. Until next time…Keep on listening..Happy-Birthday-to-me-150x150 on April 14th!!!

First Post

Hello, everyone and welcome to my blog!!! First let me say that I am honored that you are taking time to read this. There are plenty of other things you could have done but you’re doing this! Thank you. Well, I have some exciting things coming up in the next few weeks. Tomorrow night, March 26th, I have a show at Carter’s Lounge in Warrenton NC. I am super excited about this because I think I finally have the right combination of musicians and we are going to kick ass.

Monday, I’m going to Georgia. Why? Let me tell you. I’m doing a song with J Red!

J. Red (The Nephew)

Yep, I’m going down to his studio to record it with him. I’ll tell you the story of how that came about. We actually just officially met last month even though I’ve known of him for about 20 years. He used to have a group back in the 90’s called the Average Guys and I briefly dated another guy in that group. During that time, the guy I was seeing gave me a CD of the group. Anyway, I met J Red at a show he did in Weldon NC and talked to him about those days. The next day, I posted on Facebook a picture of that old CD. Yeah, I kept it for 20 years!

Anyway, his wife sees the picture and shows it to him. I got a message to call him. So, I called and he was SO happy that I had that CD! He had lost those songs on an old computer and never thought he could get them back! So, I told him I would send him the CD. After all, it is his music. I sent him the CD and he wanted to do something for me in return. He offered to master one of my songs but I suggested we do a song together. He said OK and the rest is history.

You know, I continue to be amazed at how things are just falling into place for me with this music thing. When you are walking your true path, you attract things that will help you along the way. I decided to dive in the deep end of the pool and I haven’t drowned! Once I decided to make music my full time job, I wake up every day happy and grateful. Although it has been a little rough financially, the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. BUT I’m doing it now, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

My advice for the day is to never let fear keep you from living your dream. There is NOTHING you cannot do. You are a divine being from a divine source. Believe that. Live in that space. This message is for me too. Sometimes I doubt it! I’m going to work on that! Anyway, until next time…keep listening! And if you haven’t yet, JOIN MY FAN CLUB!!!
